Privacy policy

This policy explains how Sri Gurudeva Seva Samsthe (“the trust”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use this website, donate to the trust, book a seva, apply to volunteer, or contact us.

By using this website you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website or submit information through it.

We collect only what is needed to carry out the request you make. We do not require you to create an account, and this website has no login.

• When you donate: your name, phone number, and email address or postal address where you provide them. If you request an 80G tax receipt, we also collect your PAN, as the Income Tax department requires it on the certificate.
• When you book a seva: your name, phone number, the seva and date chosen, and optionally your gotra or the name to be used during the sankalpa.
• When you apply to volunteer: your name, phone number and any message you choose to include.
• When you contact us: whatever you include in your message.
• Automatically: standard technical information such as your browser type, device type and pages visited, used only to keep the site working and secure.

We do not collect or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net banking credentials or any other payment credential at any point.

We use the information you provide only to:

• process your donation, seva booking or volunteer application;
• issue a receipt, including an 80G tax exemption certificate where applicable;
• contact you about that specific donation, booking or application;
• maintain the accounting and donation records that the trust is required by law to keep;
• respond to a question you have asked us.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles for marketing purposes.

Online payments to the trust are processed by Cashfree Payments India Private Limited, a payment aggregator authorised by the Reserve Bank of India. When you proceed to pay, your payment details are collected and processed directly by Cashfree on their secure, PCI DSS compliant systems.

The trust never sees or stores your card, UPI or bank credentials. We receive only the outcome of the transaction — whether it succeeded or failed, the amount, and a reference identifier — which we record against your donation so that a receipt can be issued.

Cashfree's handling of your payment data is governed by their own privacy policy, available on their website.

Where you provide a phone number, we may send transactional messages over WhatsApp using the WhatsApp Business Platform operated by Meta — specifically donation receipts, seva and volunteering confirmations, and one-time passcodes where a step needs verification. Where you provide an email address, the same messages may be sent by email.

These are transactional messages tied to something you did. We do not send promotional or marketing messages over WhatsApp. You may ask us to stop contacting you at any time by writing to samadhan@maunatapasvi.com, though we will still need to retain the underlying donation records as described below.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:

• Our payment processor (Cashfree), to the extent needed to process your payment and reconcile it;
• Our communication providers (Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform and our email provider), to deliver receipts and confirmations to you;
• Our auditors and statutory authorities, where the trust is required to produce donation and accounting records under Indian law;
• Law enforcement or a court, where we are legally compelled to do so.

Donor names appear on the public donor wall only where you have explicitly opted in. If you do not opt in, your contribution is shown as anonymous or not shown at all.

Donation and receipt records are retained for at least eight years, as required for the trust's statutory accounting and tax obligations in India. Volunteer applications and general enquiries are retained for up to three years, after which they are deleted. Technical logs are retained for a short period only.

Information is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in access-controlled systems, with access limited to the trust staff who need it for their role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.

You may write to us to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date;
• ask us to delete information, where we are not required to keep it for statutory reasons;
• ask us to remove your name from the public donor wall;
• withdraw consent to receive messages from us.

This website is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy as the trust's practices or the law change. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted on the website.
